Comparing FHA Mortgage Rates

Mortgage rates, no matter the lender, are competitive across the board. FHA mortgage rates on things like the down payment you have, if the loan is a first time or a refinance, your credit profile.  These things all make up the information that the company collects to determine if you are even eligible for an FHA loan.

Eligibility

Generally, to be able to secure FHA mortgage rates you will need almost impeccable credit.  The rates are a bit higher than conventional but that is due to the loan being insured to make sure the payments are made on time.   You also need to qualify through the FHA’s debt to income ration to make sure you can make your payments before you can get a loan and FHA mortgage rates.

Actual Rates

In my research I have found that FHA mortgage rates vary  between 5% and 7% depending on a number of things like the state involved,  points paid, down payment, credit scores and several other variables that can change from state to state but the figures here for FHA mortgage rates are  a general  observation.

Looking for a Lender

Once you have your home in mind and have secured a down payment you can check into an FHA loan.  Sometimes they are a good idea since they are insured for the life of the load. You pay for this of course.  When a conventional loan is out for one reason or another FHA loan is a possibility if you do not want to go to a mortgage broker, which would mean a possibly higher interest rate than the FHA mortgage rates.

You can begin your search online without having to leave home if all you are doing right now is comparing FHA mortgage rates and programs with the multitude of other loans for home ownership that you can find on the Internet.

Make sure you are honest in the answers you need to supply for the questions otherwise; there is no point in searching online. You can get a good idea of the rates between the conventional and FHA mortgage rates just by answering a few questions to start your search.
